How to Get Over Your Cravings One Bite At a Time
We all get uncontrollable cravings from time to time. Maybe it was that slice of deep dish pizza you had in Chicago or that warm slice of apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream that only your mother makes. Or, maybe it’s nachos with the works. Or, deep fried pickles. You get the point.
From time to time, we indulge in our favorite foods and then we wonder why we feel so guilty for eating them. There is a reason for this. The things that taste the best often the worst things for our bodies. This statement is confirmed when we step on the scale or realize our pants don’t fit as well as they used to.
Although it is nothing new to crave certain types of foods throughout the week, your ability to demonstrate willpower will make all the difference in your fitness success. If you have a goal of losing 10 pounds before swimsuit season, you can’t accomplish that by polishing up a box of Twinkies and sitting idle on the couch. You’ve got to get up and get that body moving.
Here’s how you can get over your cravings one bite at a time:
- Tell yourself “No.” This can be easier said than done. You have to have iron will to pass up a slice of birthday cake. Keep your eye on the prize and know that those extra calories mean more time sweating in the gym.
- Redirect your craving. Put your focus on something else. Go for a walk. Start a project that requires your undivided attention. Whatever you do, avoid the kitchen.
- Avoid parties focused around food. Opt to be fashionably late. Come to the event after the food has been served and let the host know that you have already eaten.
Although these strategies may seem simple, they really can help control your cravings. Not completely sold on the idea of giving up fried chicken and brownies, give Mind Muscle Fitness a call. The number to reach us at is (310) 487-7886.
