Wake Up In the Morning with a Nutritious Breakfast

Experts say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day and they’re right.  Without the proper nutrition needed to supply your body with fuel, you may find yourself feeling sluggish and discouraged.  You’re more likely to skip a workout and eat foods that are bad for you and your diet.  You may even suffer from headaches caused by low blood sugar.

None of this news is music to your ears.  In fact, without the right balance of carbohydrates, lean protein, fresh fruits and vegetables, and fat-free dairy products, you may find yourself operating at half the speed than you’re used to.  This can severely impede the progress you make towards your fitness goals.

The answer to this problem is actually rather simple.  Start your morning off right by eating a healthy breakfast.  Here are a few items that can give your body the strength that it needs to see it through until lunchtime:

  • Cottage cheese and fresh fruit
  • Whole grain toast with peanut butter
  • A fruit smoothie
  • A bagel with hummus
  • Hard boiled eggs
  • Low-fat yogurt

There are plenty of other great tasting, low calorie foods to choose from.  In fact, you can even experiment with different flavor combinations to make the type of breakfast that gives you the strength to get through the day.

Remember to eat a diet of low-fat, low calorie foods.  This can include lean protein, whole grains, a variety of fruits and vegetables, and certain types of dairy products.  You should strive to eat 3 meals a day and have at least 2 snacks.  If you prefer eating several small meals versus 3 large ones, you also have that option.
