How to Make Fitness Your Number One Priority

In today’s world, it is easy to get distracted.  With so much going on in our personal and professional lives, is it any wonder why we seldom find time to address our health?  We barely have the energy left to consider how important physical fitness is to our health and well-being.

With that being said, there are some ways to tune out life’s distractions and focus on diet and exercise.  Here are a few ways that you can make fitness your number one priority:

  • Know your risks. Stroke, heart attack, and Diabetes affect many Americans.  You don’t have to be overweight to be unhealthy.  By simply adding 30 minutes of cardiovascular exercise five days a week, you reduce your risk factor for these deadly diseases.  You don’t have to devote a whole afternoon to working out.  You can get up early in the morning and hit the treadmill or ride your bike after work.
  • Mix it up. Enroll in different classes, play a variety of sports, and use various equipment when you go to the gym.  Find new ways to get up and get moving.  Your body will thank you for being active and your mind will be sharp from the extra stimulation.
  • Get your friends and family involved. Gather up a team of your biggest supporters and give them a challenge.  Ask them to hold you accountable as you approach your fitness goals.  Recruit a few to be workout buddies and take them to the gym with you.
