Meet Your Trainer

Hi, I'm Griffin White, the head coach and founder of Mind Muscle Fitness. Although I was around sports as a kid, and you might have considered me a younger athlete, I was never the super-fit one. It was a competitive world, and it was all too easy to fall into the trap of comparing myself to others.

I guess you could say I lacked confidence. It started a lifelong commitment of gaining my own self-confidence and acceptance which I think is a big part of what drives my personal training career. 

Throughout my life, I struggled with weight issues. I have tried many different fad diets, only to get annoyed with the restrictions, and give up a couple of weeks later. I tried numerous workout programs, but couldn't stick to them, they just weren't the right thing for me. I fell back into old habits because I had no one to hold me accountable and help me. 

The pull to be active and more fully engaged in outdoor activities is a motivating factor to put my health first.  It was less about how I looked in my skinny jeans, and more about how I felt in being more confident and more purposeful in my daily life.

Unlike many personal trainers you might have met in the past, I don't always love working out. It's not something that feels easy and effortless, so I get it when my clients tell me that they need a little motivation boost. I rely on creativity to keep workouts fun and engaging, rather than exhausting workouts that leave you feeling broken!​

I was honored to receive the 2021 award for Best Personal Trainer in Asheville, from the readers of the Mountain Express.

The Training Space

At Mind Muscle Fitness, we use a wide variety of training techniques, and we know that there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach to fitness. In fact, many of the clients we help have struggled in the past because they needed a personalized approach. Sometimes that requires unique equipment, and so our private gym facility in Asheville is appropriately fitted out with precisely what you need.

At Mind Muscle Fitness, we realize that health comes before fitness. And we address the health element using a broad spectrum of approaches. Your body is unique, so we fully tailor the methods we employ to you and your goals.

In the 18 years of providing personal training, I've helped many people with their health and fitness. I don't think there's been a single person that hasn't left our sessions smiling and feeling better than when they walked in. I take enormous pride in that. 

If you can promise consistency and an openness to being accountable to the personal training program, I know you will get results. I am absolutely sure of it, based on the many people that have trained with me over the decades and have life-changing results.
